Your Nijmegen

Nijmegen through the eyes of newcomers

What does Nijmegen look like with your first look?

Welcome to the “Your Nijmegen Photo Project” – an exciting opportunity for photography enthusiasts in Nijmegen! Whether you’re new to the city or have been here for a while, this project is a perfect platform to showcase your passion for photography and share your unique perspective of this beautiful city.

Suppose you come from a faraway country and you see ‘our’ beautiful city on the river Waal for the first time. Do you then experience what everyone experiences when you visit a new, exotic city? Is Nijmegen comparable to Isfahan, Phnom Penh or New Orleans for those not from here? Or with, say, Nairobi, the capital of Kenya (pictured below)?

What does life in Nijmegen look like for newcomers? And can you convey this image or experience in a photograph? That is the experiment we want to undertake in this project! A project in which we show Nijmegen through the eyes of newcomers.

We invite newcomers to show their image of Nijmegen by submitting one or more photos. Not only of Nijmegen as a city (architecture), but also of life in Nijmegen. To those who have been living in Nijmegen or the Netherlands for some time, we would like to show a picture of ‘their’ city with new eyes.

Are you a newcomer? Then show your image of Nijmegen!

Jouw Nijmegen? Vertel erover!

This is where stories about Nijmegen told by others appear.

Cute little cars

Cute little cars What do newcomers see when they first look around Nijmegen? A few things I can think of (as someone who grew up in the Netherlands): lots of bicycles and a herring cart. But is there anything else? If you ask, you sometimes hear surprising things....
